Kendra Nordgren
Floating Assistant Teacher (Kindergarten/Nursery programs)
Kendra has been drawn to careers involving children and their families for much of her life. She grew up in New Britain, CT. Started babysitting and volunteering at her church as a Sunday School Teacher and with VBS. She worked as an Assistant Teacher at the YWCA with Preschool, Toddler and School Aged/Aftercare. She attended college at The University of New Hampshire taking courses in Occupational Therapy and earning a BA in Psychology. While in college, she worked as an Assistant Teacher at Forest Park Daycare for the families and professors on campus. She babysat for many of the families as well. She also began working for the Durham School District as a 1:1 Aide, for a young girl diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. After her time in New Hampshire, she moved back home to CT. She worked at CMHA for 14 years in New Britain, Waterbury and surrounding areas. Here she assisted with Group Therapy sessions providing treatment to children in different groups ages 5-18. She spent some time working in the Reunification program as well offering Supervised Visits and Parenting Skills to families. Kendra also began her own family. Her son Kieran was born in 2003, her daughter Neala in 2007. In 2014 she experienced many changes in her life, including relocating to Barkhamsted. She worked at Litchfield Hills Healing Center in Bantam, assisting with Group Therapy. She studied Reiki and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2016. Her journey into Waldorf began when her youngest daughter, Sage Willow born 2018, started Kindergarten in the EC last year at HWVS. She attended Parent classes with Melissa Merkling and fell in love with Waldorf education. She plans to continue her journey with Waldorf Teacher training and is Very Grateful to join the Apple Blossom Community.
