Mary Preble

Assistant teacher for the Nursery Class

Mary has always enjoyed being around and working with children. She has a B.S. in plant science from University of Maryland. Mary first discovered Waldorf education while learning about biodynamic agriculture, Rudolph Steiner’s holistic approach to farming. She spent nearly a decade working on farms and orchards in Maryland (where she grew up), Hawaii, and New Zealand. She has also worked as a nanny. When it was time for her children to start school, she and her husband sought out a Waldorf community, and gratefully found HVWS. Mary was drawn to the seasonal and daily rhythms, the nurturing sensory experience, and the reverence paid to the stages of childhood development that Waldorf education offers. She spent time substitute teaching in her son’s kindergarten and loved being in the classroom, yearning to learn more about the Waldorf ways of nurturing young children. She is thrilled to join the Apple Blossom community this year!
