Early Childhood - Assistant Teacher

Apple Blossom Waldorf School & Family Center is seeking an Early Childhood assistant teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This is a part-time, hourly position with the potential to be full time, in our Nursery (18 months - 3 years old) or Kindergarten classroom (3 - 6 years old). Our school is growing, so there is room for professional growth.
 

Skills

  • Interest in working with children under the lead teacher's guidance.

  • Enjoy daily active engagement in work (for example gardening).

  • Enjoy domestic activities such as preparing snack, dish washing…

  • Be attentive to all areas involving the safety and well-being of the children.

  • Be a quiet, but active presence in the classroom.

  • Work with children one-on-one and in a small group.

  • Be open and receptive to suggestions.

  • Radiate a joyful inner mood.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Re-direct parental questions to the lead teacher.
     

Qualifications:  A warm and open disposition with the ability to lovingly care for children of mixed ages. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and hold a bachelor’s degree. Eagerness to learn about Apple Blossom and Waldorf education. Waldorf training and experience preferred, but not required.
 

Requirements: The ability to meet Connecticut OEC licensing requirements including yearly professional development, as well as to pass a CT criminal background check. To be able to lift and carry small children during caregiving times

Early Childhood - Summer Program Coordinator and Lead Teacher

Join our caring, state licensed Waldorf community at Apple Blossom Waldorf School and Family Center in Wilton, CT.  An early childhood center in our 19th year, we serve ~ 50 families during the school year.  We value the protection of childhood and trust in the natural unfolding of the development of the young child.  We provide joyful, rhythmic days filled with free play, crafts from natural materials, song, and story on a wooded property with nourishing, and organic, homemade snacks.

 

Our Summer Program:

  • Runs for 9 weeks from June 17 - August 16

  • Nursery class: max. 8 children / week. 
    Mixed age group of 18 months - 3 years old. 

  • Kindergarten class: max. 20 children / week. 
    ​Mixed age group of 3-7 years old.

  • The hours are 9 am - 1 pm, plus extended care until 4 pm

 

Coordinator responsibilities:

Begin part-time in the wintertime for staffing, program and curriculum development. Work with our schools communications coordinator to advertise programs.   

 

Summer responsibilities:

Work full-time onsite during the summer program.

Staffing, staff training and preparing, gathering program materials, communicating with parents and staff, supporting the classrooms as needed to make sure the program runs smoothly. The camp director will teach in the program in addition to holding the coordinator role.

Qualifications:  A warm and open disposition with the ability to communicate with parents and colleagues. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and parents and hold a bachelor’s degree. Waldorf training and experience preferred, but not required. Management, organizational skills and familiarity with OEC licensing requirements.

 

Requirements: The ability to meet Connecticut OEC licensing requirements including yearly professional development, as well as to pass a CT criminal background check. To be able to lift and carry small children during caregiving times when necessary.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. 

We may be able to secure housing as 

part of your compensation, if needed.

The Position: can be for as many weeks as available. Either part time or full time. It is an hourly paid position starting at $17/hour
